Th practice of Natural Meditation

In almost all the meditation practices, the attention of the practitioner is focused on some determined field: breath, sounds, colours, thoughts, concepts as Love, and so on.
There are also some practices who emphasize that to develop some degree of letting go skills, the practitioner must develop a choiceless awareness, not focused on anythingparticular, but rather to all what he can perceive. These tipes of practices are called “Natural Meditation” or “Bare Awareness” Meditation and are practiced in some traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism.
In Natural Meditation, you really do not do anything.  You sit there and let yourself be.  Take your hands off the steering wheel.  You simply close your eyes and rest as choiceless, effortless, silent awareness.
Now, what does that mean, “awareness”?  Close your eyes and watch for the next thought that crosses your mind.  Don’t wait for nothing. . .
When you did this, nothing probably happened.  That part of you that is “watching the screen” is awareness.  You just rest as that.  If that sounds confusing, it’s not meant to be so.  Literally, sit down, close your eyes, and do nothing.
Let yourself “be breathed.”
Rest as silent, choiceless, effortless awareness.

That’s all you have to do.

About mr Sarmoung

Andrea Dandolo je pisac i istražitelj razvoja svijesti i duhovnosti uključen u razotkrivanje drevnih učenja s ciljem olakšavanja unutarnjeg razvoja ljudskih bića.

One Response to Th practice of Natural Meditation

  1. Amira says:

Natural Meditation is for me, in the last few years of practice, appropriate form of meditation. While meditating, I have no mantra, I do not follow my breath, do not try to do anything special … When it encounters a thought, gently I let her go, like a balloon. I watch the colors, which appear intense, colorful circles that spread in to the “state” or “space” in me …
For me, this is the best form of meditation, because everything else is “holding” for “something”, and it distracts from our pure consciousness …
